Child safety standards

Uintah Reach has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out the standards we hold, how to report a concern, and what we do when one is raised.

Uintah Reach is for adults

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Uintah Reach is a local marketplace and community board involving messaging between people who do not know each other and, often, meeting in person to hand something over. It is not designed for children and is not directed to them.

We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to hold an account. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete its data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us at [email protected] and we will act on it.

What is prohibited

The following are banned outright, and an account that posts any of it is removed:

  • Child sexual abuse material, in any form, including drawn, generated, or edited imagery.
  • Sexualising, or sexual commentary about, a minor.
  • Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to contact a child for sexual purposes.
  • Trafficking of, or advertising access to, a child.
  • Any other content that sexually exploits or endangers a child.

This restates the zero-tolerance policy in our Terms of Service, which every person agrees to when they sign in.

How we prevent it

  • Every post is reviewed by a person before it appears. Classifieds, events, jobs, and food trucks are held for moderation and are not publicly visible until approved. Nothing publishes automatically.
  • Accounts are tied to a verified email address. Signing in requires a one-time code sent to that address, so an account cannot be created with an address the person does not control.
  • The service is deliberately small in scope. It serves the Uintah Basin, and it has no public profiles, no follower graph, and no discovery of people by age or location.

How to report a concern

In the app. Every post and every person can be reported:

  1. Open the post, or the message thread with the person concerned.
  2. Tap the report control — the flag on a post, or the menu in a conversation.
  3. Choose a reason and describe the concern. Please say plainly that it involves a child, so we prioritise it.

Every report immediately notifies our moderators. You can also block a person outright, which stops them contacting you.

By email. Report anything involving a child directly to [email protected]. This address is monitored and reaches a person who can act.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 first. Report to us afterwards.

How we respond

  • Reports involving a child are treated as the highest priority and reviewed on receipt.
  • Offending content is removed, and the account responsible is banned. A ban hides everything that account has posted.
  • We preserve the relevant records as required for a lawful investigation.
  • We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as United States law requires of us, and we cooperate with law enforcement.

You can report directly to NCMEC at any time through the CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678. You do not need to go through us first.

Compliance

We comply with applicable child safety laws in the United States, including the reporting duties placed on electronic service providers, and with Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and Apple's App Store guidelines on user-generated content.
